Calculator questions
- How close is the calculator to a real price?
- Close enough to plan a budget. The final number depends on what we find on site: how much dirt has to move, how far the truck has to reach, how much steel the slab needs, and whether drainage work is part of the job.
- How do I figure cubic yards?
- Length times width times thickness, all in feet, then divide by 27. A 24 by 20 foot slab at 4 inches thick comes to about 5.9 cubic yards before the extra we order for waste and low spots.
- Why does a small job cost more per square foot?
- A truck, a crew and a set of forms cost about the same whether the slab is 60 square feet or 300. Small pads and short walks usually land near our job minimum for that reason.
- Is tear-out of the old slab included?
- Only when you check the tear-out box. Breaking up and hauling away old concrete usually adds $1 to $4 per square foot, more if the old slab is thick or full of rebar.
